Story[]

History[]

Bayleon dedicated his life to the words of his father, the previous king, that the most virtuous soul in Naterra becomes the king. That changed when Valdain, the alleged illegitimate son of his father, came into his life and the two quickly formed an antagonistic relationship. However, one day, Valdain was attacked by a massive beast and Bayleon instinctively saved him, causing the two to form a new relationship as brothers. The two grew to respect and admire each other, but that came to an end on the day Valdain left.

Valdain allegedly drank a potion concocted by his own mother that gave him the power to drain life force, earning the name of the Forest Shadow. Valdain would flee into exile blaming society for despising him, and Bayleon was unable to stop him.

Valdain's disappearance caused the king and queen to become ill with worry, and they soon passed. Bayleon was given the crown, but it was overshadowed by the blight and impending doom caused by Viridia Magna. Mánagarmr, led by Valdain, wanted to destroy Viridia Magna, while Bayleon's followers, Sköll, wanted to find another way. The two groups comes into conflict as the two brothers fought to rule Naterra.

Seeds of Conflict[]

Ladica brings Arisa to Bayleon, who dismisses Ladica and recognizes Arisa is not from his kingdom. Arisa asks about Tetra, but Bayleon explains he does not know anyone by that name lives in his kingdom. The conversation is interrupted by an attack from soldiers from an organization called Mánagarmr. Arisa fights alongside Bayleon to repel the soldiers. During the battle, the soldiers kidnap Arisa when she tries to reason with them. The soldiers use Arisa as a hostage to escape and Bayleon orders Ladica to rescue Arisa.

When Ladica brings Arisa back, they are greeted by Bayleon. Ladica leaves to attend to some business and Bayleon reveals that Tetra is definitely not from Naterra and Arisa ended up in a different world than the one she was supposed to go to. Bayleon guesses that Arisa's allies are split between Naterra and Tetra's word and Arisa decides to find Erika. Before Arisa can leave, Bayleon informs Arisa that there are signs Viridia Magna will act soon. Originally, Naterra was led by the royal family, but when Virida Magna awoke, the populace split into two factions, Mánagarmr and Skölll, the latter which reveres Viridia Magna for creating Naterra and refuses to harm her under the belief the blight is part of natural cycle. The conversation is interrupted by an attack from Mánagarmr soldiers and Bayleon and Arisa team up to fight them off.

After the soldiers are defeated and sent away, Bayleon reveals that even though he lost the respect of Mánagarmr's members, he still holds hope his kingdom will be reunited. Ladica returns and brings Erika with her, who reunites with Arisa. Ladica leaves to find more of the otherworlders and Arisa asks Bayleon if she can speak with Mánagarmr again to try and create a truce with them. Bayleon warns Valdain is dangerous and unpredictable but agrees to let Arisa try to quell the fighting. He warns her to not let her guard down because Valdain hates him, but refuses to explain the details. Arisa asks Erika to come with her and the two set off to find Mánagarmr.

After defeating the troops, Eris threatens them to leave, but a woman named Djeana arrives to rescue the troops, but she only leaves after warning that Mánagarmr will destroy Sköll. The beastman who aided Eris is revealed to be Bayleon and introduces himself as the leader of Sköll and the reigning Forest King. He apologizes for letting Arisa be captured, but Eris expresses her faith that Ladica will save her. Eris asks why Mánagarmr and Sköll are fighting when Virdia Magna threatens to destroy the world and Bayleon explains that despite her actions against Naterra, she is also the one who created it and all the living creatures who reside in it. Bayleon explains that Sköll believes that whatever Virida Magna does, she has the right to do so as the creator of the world. Additionally, it is believed the destruction she creates is part of a cycle, and there a natural process that should not be defied. However, Mánagarmr believes that Virida Magna must be stopped to save Naterra instead of letting be destroyed. Eris offers to help end the conflict and Bayleon reveals that even though Eris was supposed to go to Tetra's world, she was actually transported to a different one. Despite not being able to help Tetra, Eris resolves to save Naterra anyway. Bayleon asks Eris to investigate what happened to the previous civilization Viridia Magna destroyed, believing the past may hold the answers to stopping the conflict and Naterra's destruction. He explains that Mánagarmr's increasing activity has left unable to pursue the answers himself and that he believes Eris's outside perspective could help uncover the questions of the past. He also reveals there is a tool that could help access the previsous civilization's information and Eris realizes it is the slate Meowsker's was using earlier. Bayleon promises to help find Eris's allies.

Arisa reunites with Bayleon, who apologizes for not revealing the details between him and Bayleon. At Arisa's request, Bayleon reveals his history with Valdain. Valdain is Bayleon's younger brother, born to a different mother. Despite Bayleon's mother and Bayleon loving Valdain as a part of their family, Valdain rejected them. He drank a potion concocted by his own mother that gave him the power to drain life force, earning the name of the Forest Shadow. During his explaination, Viridia Magna roars, signifying the destruction of Naterra, and Bayleon rallies his troops. Before he can face Viridia Magna, Bayleon decides to settle things with his brother and Arisa decides to help save Naterra. Bayleon sends his troops to fight Mánagarmr to settle the conflict once and for all.

Seeds of Conflict: Harrowing[]

Arisa finds Bayleon defeating a group of Mánagarmr troops and pleads with him to stop the conflict. Though Bayleon wants to stop the conflict, he believes that a peaceful solution is not an option. He asks Arisa which side she will take, but she refuses to join either. Disappointed, Bayleon attacks Arisa because he fears her idealism will weaken his resolve on the battlefield. As the two battle, they argue over stopping the conflict. Bayleon overwhelms Arisa and leaves to address the battle after warning Arisa he will not show her mercy next time they fight.

After the second roar, Bayleon meets with Mistolina and asks him what he is fighting for. Though Bayleon refuses to give an answer, Mistolina encourages him to fight for what he believes.

Bayleon and Valdain meet in the place where they first acknowledged each other as brothers and prepare to fight to the death.

Bayleon gains the upper hand in the fight, but stops before he can deliver a killing blow, realizing Valdain wasn't going to dodge the strike. He demands to know what his brother is really after and Valdain begins to lose control of his cursed power. Bayleon admits he realized during the fight he was trying to execute his brother, who he still sees as family. Valdain angrily reveals that he and Valdain are not brothers by blood and attacks Bayleon for being ignorant of his real history. Bayleon tries to get Valdain to explain his words and Valdain admits he is the son of his mother and a wicked dragon, and that the previous king took them in under the guise as family to keep them from becoming outcasts. Valdain also reveals his power comes from the wicked dragon and that he killed his own mother in a rage, causing the previous king and queen to die of grief from her loss. He sees himself as a monster that deserves to die at the hands of Bayleon and urges him to end his life.

Bayleon refuses to kill Valdain and reveals he still sees him as a brother despite not sharing blood. He begs Valdain to let them become real brothers again, but Valdain still seeks his death at Bayleon's hands and attacks him. Despite all Valdain has done, Bayleon again refuses to kill him not as his brother or as a king. Infuriated, Valdain tries to attack again, but Rowen and Arisa stop him and plead with him to end the fight.

Now knowing that Viridia Magna doesn't wish to destroy the world, Bayleon decides to try and return Viridia Magna to her real self. Arisa remembers that Viridia Magna was once a regular girl and decides to reach out to that part of her. The group sets out to reach Viridia Magna, but an army of blighted monsters stand in their way.

The blighted creatures continue hindering the group and Bayleon decides to fend them off alone so the others can reach Viridia Magna. Bayleon grows overwhelmed by the number of blighted creatures, but Valdain arrives to help and the two brothers face off against the horde of creatures.

The group reunites with Bayleon and Ladica and the former explains that Viridia Magna went into a meditative state to focus on restoring the damaged caused by the blight. However, Valdain and Meowskers have left, but both Rowen and Bayleon are sure he will find his purpose.

Invasion of the Worldreaver[]

Bayleon is confronted by Tisiphone and manages to hold out against her, but Tisiphone retreats to recharge while sending robot soldiers to weaken Bayleon. Urias and Mono arrive to aid Bayleon.

Bayleon, Valdain, Tetra, Mono, Aenea, and Roly Poly stay behind to hold off the mechanical vines while the otherworlders go after Belphomet.

Yuwan later speaks with Bayleon about his hope that Naterra can rise from the devastation Belphomet inflicted. Bayleon reveals that Viridia Magna survived, and is currently dormant while the land heals, but it is impossible to know when she will awaken and the problems Naterra faces are far from over. Yuwan places his faith in Bayleon and the latter agrees with him that Naterra will be restored with their new allies from Aiolon. He gives Yuwan his thanks for saving Naterra and places his hopes of Yuwan that his mission will be complete before saying his farewells.
