Story[]
History[]
Illganeau was born as a human with another name, now forgotten. She had an admirable father, a kind mother, and an amazing sister who cared for her. But Illganeau had a weak heart and was often convalescing, which worried her family and led her to believe that it would have been better if she had never been born. However, her sister always managed to comfort her during her frequent depressions. Her sister had been born with mysterious powers that allowed her to read people's minds and always know how to help them, even though her parents had no magic in their blood, so she believed that her powers were a gift from heaven. However, it turned out that her sister had been born with magic that should have been hers, in which case she would have been born healthy. Although her sister was consumed by guilt and wanted to return the magic, Illganeau refused knowing that this would make her sister sick and decided to be happy with her family.
Growing up, Illganeau found her calling as a seamstress. However, she and her entire family were killed while shopping by a mad man with a knife, later revealed to be Zecilwenshe. In her final moments, her sister was able to use her powers to save one of them, choosing Illganeau without hesitation. The moment her sister's life force leave her corpse and entered into Illganeau, Illganeau couldn't help but hate herself, believing that her sister was the one who deserved to live the most.
Illganeau's sister only half succeeded in saving Illganeau while the other half turned into a Wretch. The combination of both states in one being plus the magic of her sister turned Illganeau into an undead being with immense power.
Fate's Trigger[]
Illganeau wakes up alone in an alley with complete amnesia. Confused, she makes her way into the Golden Hills and tries to figure out who she is, but she draws the attention of a guard. Unable to provide any identification, she is labelled a trespasser and shot by the guard. However, the woman rises unharmed and fights back with a mysterious power.
The woman defeats the guards and the terrified citizens watching compare her power to that of a wretch. She begs the guards to stop attacking so she can figure out who she is, but more guards arrive to launch another attack. Another woman surrounded by mysterious energy, whom the guards identify as a wretch, saves her and takes her to safety. Once she is sure she is safe, the woman realizes she is a wretch, and her rescuer confirms it.
The woman asks her rescuer if she knows who she is, but her rescuer doesn't know. Her rescuer admits that she doesn't remember much about herself either and explaisn that even though they appear human to each other, they appear as monsters to other humans, and they can't understand their words. Her rescuer suggests that the woman goes to the other side of town where several older wretches live to try and figure out who she is. The woman is warned by her rescuer that wretches sometimes lose themselves for brief periods and become overrun by violent instincts. The two go their separate ways and the woman recalls a memory of witnessing her sister's death, but her recollection is interrupted by a man fleeing a deputy. The woman saves the man and he, in an attempt to harness her power, lies that he knows a bit about who she is. The man calls the woman Illganeau and introduces himself as Istar. Illganeau tells Istar about the memory she managed to recall and Istar guesses that she is looking for vengeance, something Illganeau agrees with, and offers to travel with her. While traveling, Istar thinks about how he can manipulate Illganeau to his advantage.
Istar learns about Illganeau's amnesia as they reach her destination. They find other wretches and Istar, who sees them as monsters, becomes terrified. Illganeau explains that the wretches mean no harm and begins speaking with them, who realize that she is somehow different than other wretches. Istar, still scared, backs off to a safe distance and Illganeau asks the wretches if they know her. The wretches are unable to provide any hints to her identity, as they have lost most of their own memories, and reveal that wretches are dead people reanimated, but have lost their human appearance, language, and in some cases, sense of self. Illganeau manages to recall her own death and the wretches inform her that wretches are created when people die with regrets that tie them to the world. After finishing her conversation, Illganeau meets up with Istar and shares what she has learned Istar offers to take Illganeau to some of his associates to see if they know anything about who she used to be, though he continues to scheme to use Illganeau for his own means.
Istar takes Illganeau to his associates and claims that they will kill the man who supposedly killed her sister, Iceshillendrig, though his associates know he is just using Illganeau. Istar shows Illganeau some of Iceshillendrig's henchmen and explains Iceshillendrig's has been terrorizing Rivayle for years, and claims he suspects Iceshillendrig is responsible for the death of Illganeau's sister. He reveals his plan is to weaken Iceshillendrig by taking out his henchmen, but Illganeau is reluctant to act for reasons even she doesn't know. Istar convinces Illganeau to go through with his plan and take heer vengeance. Illganeau takes out a group of henchmen, to Istar's astonishment, but when she becomes unsure she did the right thing, Istar tells her that with her power and drive to avenge her sister, hinting he also has a grudge against Iceshillendrig. He reveals that he desires to replace Iceshillendrig as a Titan and finally be free from their grip.
After learning of Istar's intentions, Illganeau considers getting her revenge. When Istar offers to go talk to the residents, Illganeau asks her to let her go see the Wretches, and though reluctant, Istar agrees and even asks her to convince them to join them. After briefly regaining a memory of her sister, Illganeau tells the Wretches that she killed out of revenge because they told her to, leading them to question her not thinking for herself. The Wretches reveal to her that they can regain their memories over time, but this can lead to them turning into murderous monsters, though they console her by saying that they have never seen a Wretch like her. After revealing that Wretches can die, which they accept, the two are suddenly shot by a woman in white who asks Illganeau if she is hurt. Illganeau begins to attack her out of a sudden feeling of rage, sparking a battle between the two. Selena is surprised that Illganeau is able to withstand all of her magic bullets, though Illganeau only continues to question the events around her and her identity. When Selena's answers awaken more of her memories, Selena eventually runs out of ammo and decides to use the bullet Maiser left behind to stun Illganeau long enough to flee. Illganeau picks up the bullet that Selena left behind and that's when Fleauesse appears to her saying that he might have some of the answers she's looking for.
Illganeau asks Fleauesse if she knows who she is. Fleauesse tells her that the story is of a girl with a special heart who, after the tragedy, ended up wandering the world half alive and half dead, which makes her so different from the rest of the Wretches. Illganeau doesn't understand, but Fleauesse says that she will eventually. Fleauesse then reveals that Iceshillendrig is not her killer, since he would never kill her with a knife as she remembers, but would have destroyed her without a trace, but tells her that the one with whom she seeks revenge is hiding right under her shadow. After Fleauesse disappears, Illganeau returns to the townspeople who tell him that Iceshillendrig has put a price on her head and Istar's, but that they are willing to take her in and sell Istar, insisting that he is only using her. They reveal that Istar earned the nickname "Lady Killer" by slitting a woman's throat. Illganeau is reluctant to believe them, but they tell her to ask Istar directly for the name of the woman she killed: "Illganeau". Furious at the revelation that Istar was the one who killed her, Illganeau releases her power, frightening the two men and wondering if Istar is her true enemy.
Istar is about to be captured by Iceshillendrig's underlings who shoot her in both arms despite all her pleas, but Illganeau intervenes saying that Istar is not theirs to kill. After Illganeau finishes off the two, she confronts Istar about him being her killer. Istar says it's a misunderstanding and that he's her friend who cares about her, but Illganeau attacks him unable to control his rage. Istar manages to escape and ask his colleagues for help, but they reveal that they were the ones who sold them to the Iceshillendrig's men. When Illganeau arrives, she questions them about what they said before, to which they explain that the woman Istar killed was not her. Illganeau becomes even more confused about who she is, to which one of the men tells her that she is nobody.
Illganeau finally remembers her life and understands that the enemy who killed her sister was herself.
Illganeau mercilessly attacks both men while cursing the world for her and her family's fate. However, Istar leaps to take the killing blow, allowing them to escape. Illganeau asks why he named her, to which Istar reveals that it is the name of his sister, who killed herself in front of him, unable to bear what he had become in order to keep her safe. Istar admits that she already knew that Illganeau could read his mind and hear his thoughts about manipulating her, and she stayed by his side despite this. Istar asks her what she will do now, to which Illganeau says she will die. Istar asks her to instead cleanse Rivayle of corruption by killing Iceshillendrig, and dies after saying that her greatest lie was wishing his sister dead. Taking the name Illganeau, she sets out to take down Rivayle to avenge all who have suffered under its system.
Fate's Trigger: Conclusion[]
Illganaeu discovers the citizens in the Golden Hills are panicking at the rebellion and she decides to find Iceshillendrig, the source of the conflict, and kill him. Illganaeau interrogates one of Iceshillendrig's henchman, but he commits suicide when he discovers Illganeau can read minds and learned a bit about the ritual. Bunny and Baron cross paths with Illganeau, and after learning they are all after Iceshillendrig's head, join forces with each other.
Suddenly, Zecilwenshe attacks Arisa, Maiser, Selena, Bunny, Baron, and Illganeau simultaneously through different bodies. Baron orders Bunny and Illganeau to continue on while fights Zecilwenshe. However, Zecilwenshe, with his full power unleashed, ambushes Bunny and Illganeau separately through multiple bodies. When Zecilwenshe confronts Illganeau, he speaks her true name, revealing himself as her family's killer.
Illganeau questions Zecilwenshe why he killed her and her family, but he answers that he did it simply to test his powers while undergoing calibration. Illganeau unleashes her wrath upon Zecilwenshe, unleashing all of her power.
Illganeau kills Zecilwenshe, but he simply returns in a new body, with several more accompanying him. Illganeau continues kill Zecilwenshe's bodies, but more come to replace them as Zecilwenshe relentlessly taunts her. Zecilwenshe asks Illganeau what she hopes to gain from Iceshillendrig's death, and she reveals she wants closure before her death, but Zecilwenshe reveals that Illganeau's sister lives on through her because her life force merged with hers, sending Illganeau deeper into her confusion. Recognizing Illganeau's condition is similar to his, Zecilwenshe attacks her weak points and overwhelms her with his numbers. When he goes in for the finishing blows, it is blocked by the bullet Illganeau found from Selena, but he quickly launches another attack and incapitates her. Zecilwenshe decides to possess Illganeau to harness her power, because even though he can't possess powerful beings, he theorizes his and Illganeau's similar conditions may make her more compatible. However, the result is disastrous and causes to lose control to her power.
Nahtnaught's forces begin to overwhelm Iceshillendrig's, but wretches controlled by an out of control Illganeau are appearing and attacking everything in sight. Nahtnaught puts Illganeau's rampage off of the time.
The Final Loop[]
In a new cycle, Bunny and Baron lead the rebellion against Iceshillendrig and team up with Illganeau. The three are ambushed by Zecilwenshe and Baron takes him on alone while Illganeau and Bunny leave to attack Iceshillendrig's henchmen. While searching for Iceshillendrig, Illganeau is attacked by Zecilwenshe, who reveals he is the one who murdered her and her family. Zecilwenshe overpowers Illganeau, but his finishing strike is deflected by the bullet Illgeneau found from Selena. He continues attacking and prepares to kill Illganeau, but he is stopped by Kagero, who has arrived from Vellsar. Kagero's power allows him to wound Zecilwenshe without harming the host he is possessing, and he declares he is one of many hopes for Rivayle.
During the fight, Zecilwenshe boasts he has infinite vessels and is invincible. However, Kagero is able to directly wound Zecilwenshe instead of his possessed victim with his power. Illganeau provides a distraction by attacking Zecilwenshe for his sadistic murders, allowing Kagero to strike Zecilwenshe with his Art of Rejuvenation, landing a critical blow to Zecilwenshe's spiritual core and incapacitating him for the time. Before Illganeau can resume her hunt for Iceshillendrig, Kagero asks about the bullet that saved her earlier, his intutition telling him it is great importance. Illganeau gives Kagero the bullet and the latter tell the former he sense the same guilty of murder he has in her, and urges her to seek a new path other than revenge.
As Nahtnaught overpowers Sekka, Illganeau intervenes and Kagero soon joins them as well. Nahtnaught leaves to address the attack while Illganeau, Kagero, and Sekka battle against the Shades.
Illganeau, Sekka, and Kagero near their limits while fighting the Shades, but the Shades disappear due to the injuries Nexus received. The Shades Drache, Maiser, and Selena are fighting also disappear and the battle seems to be nearing its end. However, Illganeau senses Iceshillendrig's presence, who has survived with a contingency plan. He merges with Zecilwenshe, who has been absorbing life force from those he possessed, and uses that power, along with the power his wretch monsters have been stealing, to gain a new temporary form to exact revenge on those who stole his chance at a new vessel. He sends new waves of stronger wretch monsters and Illganeau leaves to confront Iceshillendrig.
Illganeau reaches Iceshillendrig and prepares to kill him for all the corruption and death he has caused. Iceshillendrig admits he doesn't have full control of his new body yet and sends out Zecilwenshe to fight for him. Illganeau is overwhelmed by the two, but she is saved by Vincent and Nahtnaught. The three join forces to defeat Iceshillendrig.
Vincent and Nahtnaught are overpowered by Iceshillendrig and Zecilwenshe, having grown stronger with Iceshillendrig's new power, overwelms Illganeau. Remembering Kagero's words about facing her sins, Illganeau gains new resolve and strength declaring she is different than Zecilwenshe because she has humanity. She destroys Zecilwenshe and Vincent and Nahtnaught begin inflicting damage on Iceshillendrig. Nahtnaught summons Kagero, Sekka, Drache, Maiser, and Selena to the battle using her power and Vincent uses his power to heal and empower everyone for the battle.
Everyone's combined efforts bring Iceshillendrig the brink of defeat, but they are wary dealing the final blow for fear of Iceshillendrig's Reclaimation taking their lives in exchange. To get rid of Iceshillendrig forever, Illganeau offers to kill him and be brought down to prevent him from possessing another vessel. She kills Iceshillendrig and he prepares to take her body as her new vessel. Before the other titans can kill Illganeau before she is fully possessed, Maiser discovers Illganeau is resisting his possession.
Iceshillendrig enters Illganeau's mind and prepares to destroy her soul so he can have complete control of her body. Illganeau confronts Iceshillendrig and reveals that she has remember the countless cycles they've lived through and through those cycles, she has learned that her essence is magic, giving her the power to resist Iceshillendrig. She overpowers him and finally kills him for good, fulfilling her promise to Istar.
After the battle, Vincent and Nahtnaught handle Rivayle's affairs with Illganeau, who is helping the Wretches regain their humanity with Vincent's help and keeping the two titans in check.
Whispers of Purgation: Last Words[]
When Nexus appears in Rivayle after being revived by Nerva as a vessel of Fury, Illganeau confronts Nexus, who is able to overwhelm her until Vincent and Nahtnaught join the battle. Nexus is angered by the three forces created by Fleauesse, and then Arisa joins in as well, having sensed Nerva's presence and deciding to return to Rivayle to help. While Illganeau stays behind fighting the Shades, Arisa and the other Titans fight Nexus. When Nexus takes out her three companions, Illganeau attempts to stop her before she retreats to regain her strength, but Nexus easily knocks her out.
After days, Illganeau awakens and after having seen into Nexus' mind and traveling the world between life and death, she realizes that she and her remaining allies must prepare for Nexus' return.
llganeau suddenly arrives in the meeting at the curch, cheering everyone who thought she was dead after the battle with Nexus. Illganeau reveals that the third line of the "Song of Heaven and Earth" does in fact exist, but that it will not save the other Titans, something she knows thanks to Iceschillendrig, who appears in a ghostly form, making everyone tense. Illganeau reveals that after being defeated by Nexus, she spent time wandering the world between life and death, finding Iceschillendrig there and bringing him back with her inside her body in exchange for him helping them with what he knows. Although everyone is hesitant to trust him, Illganeau tells them that it's their only option. Iceschillendrig then reveals the third line of the ritual, that as long as there's a Titan present, it can be carried out without the other two and that it is a way that they can avoid dying during it, but only if they're willing to let Vincent and Nahtnaught die.
As Nexus returns to Rivayle, Illganeau is left to fight her army of Shades while Bunny, Baron, Maiser, and Selena take on the Keeper. Iceschillendrig helps Illganeau as part of their deal and even summons Zecilwenshe to fight as well.
When Nexus does another of her Reset and Restart, but time suddenly stops without her doing so, Illganeau appears declaring that there will be no time left, revealing that time is not asleep but "stagnated", which Iceschillendrig accomplished. Nexus doesn't understand how she can have power over time, but then recognizes the power of Stagnation, that of Fleauesse, which Illganeau received when the power of the three Titans converged into what Fleauesse split into when creating Rivayle. Nexus states that a mortal cannot use the power of a god like that, but Iceschillendrig reveals that he placed his seal on the four she fought with, which sent some of their magic towards him every time they used it, thus slowly receiving the magic of Order and Force. Thus, as soon as he saw that Nexus would use her power over time, Baron sent a signal through the seal to begin the ceremony that would inherit the power of the three Titans. Iceschillendrig and Illganeau manage to overpower Nexus as the power of Stagnation equals the power of a Keeper. Nexus attempts to turn back time again, but the power of Fury is dormant thanks to Iceschillendrig's Reclamation.
The two declare that the future of Rivayle belongs to their people before setting time running again. The five warriors join forces and destroy Nexus for good. Arisa returns from her imprisonment to find that her allies have won. Selena is surprised that Arisa defeated Nexus alone before, though she believes that Nexus was at his limit when he faced her and thus underestimated her new powers. However, Illganeau states that if Arisa hadn't weakened her enough, she would never have been able to see into Nexus' mind how to defeat her. They all decide to celebrate with a meal together. Iceschillendrig congratulates them on their victory, but reminds them that it cost them Vincent and Nahtnaught's lives, but that it will be okay now that he has his powers and has become an absolute god. However, the power suddenly begins to drain from him as Nahtnaught and Vincent enter, still alive. Illganeau explains that the last line of the ritual had another meaning, that salvation would not come at the cost of death and the world inherited by a god, but that Fleauesse's love for humans promised divine protection in perpetuity as Fleauesse's legacy was passed from one generation to the next. Thus, having a companion during the ritual acts as a charm that increases one's life force to the point of resisting the ritual and thus preventing the deaths of one's predecessors. Illganeau tells Iceschillendrig that Fleauesse always wanted mortals to inherit the world and that the gods would never be an eternal presence, and Iceschillendrig admits that he was wrong about immortality and becoming a god and admits that he lost by returning into Illganeau's subconscious saying that his only wish now is to survive.
Illganeau goes out to discuss some things with Iceschillendrig and Arisa joins her saying how strong she is for being able to make amends with her enemies, and remembering her late sister's words, Illganeau becomes determined to help others in Rivayle find their own futures in hopes of finding her own as well.
