Biography[]
A 2nd-year student who is a beginner in Shadowverse. One day, Wolfram Zerga appeared before him giving a recommendation to transfer to Shadowverse College and told him that "he had been chosen" and that he would meet his fate there. Influenced by his words, Light transfers to Shadowverse College and joins the club "Seventh Flame" as a result of a promise he made to Itsuki Mitsutagawa the day he arrived.
As Seventh Flame was on the verge of disbanding due to lack of members, needing three more members besides Itsuki, Light and Subaru, Light proposes to recruit members from the other clubs. Deciding to start with Sixth Magic, Light faces its director, Shinobu Miki, in his first battle. Although Light loses due to his lack of judgment, he manages to get Miki to reveal her true leader, Gentleman, who manipulated her in the shadows. After connecting with Gentleman in a battle, Gentleman agrees to join Seventh Flame.
After inspiring Ren to join them as well, Light battles Tsubasa Takanashi as a last resort to get another member. During it, Light learns how Haruma have crushed Third Feather as well as Seventh Flame. So, after defeating her and recover her Shadowverse, Light convinces Tsubasa to become their final member and face off Haruma together.
After being badly defeated by Haruma, Light decides to train to get stronger for the Shadowverse Club Tournament that Mikado Shirogane will organize. In a battle with Alice Kurobane, Light understands his weaknesses and the need to be true to himself in a battle. He then battles Andrea Londo, managing to awake the true power of Lævateinn Dragon as Alice suggested he must.
Light is the last representative of Seventh Flame in the Shadowverse Club Tournament, facing again Haruma Hazeura in the final battle. Light manages to win after awakening the second form of Lævateinn Dragon. After this, he is able to see Haruma's pain that was leading his actions and gains hopes of connecting with him, despite his rejection.
Light receives a data box from Mikado Shirogane as a reward for his victory, which was given to him by Wolfram Zerga. Light brings the data box to Marguerite Valois when they all go to the resort on Genesis Island. Marguerite reveals that the data box contains a fragment of Draconir's memories and that the Seven Shadows could have more, but to see the Seven Shadows he must prove himself at least the strongest in Shadoba College. In order to recover Draconir's memories, Light decides to face Mikado to prove himself the strongest. However, in battling him, Light discovers the darkness within Mikado and his sadistic Shadowverse that drove Haruma to despair. Despite his many attempts to understand Mikado, Light ends up being beaten several times in a row until he ran out of strength.
After spending days unconscious, Light is happily welcomed back by his fellow Seventh Flame, who reveal the Shadowverse World Ranking whose 7 winners win the chance to face the Seven Shadows. Light joins the tournament hoping to face Mikado again, despite receiving 0 ranking points. After raising his position by defeating Vanessa Joubert, Light receives the Dual Rage card from her, but during his battle with Seiya Kibakura he discovers that he cannot use it. He finally activate Dual Rage during another fight with Mikado, but not having fully mastered it, Light ends up losing again.
Light finally manages to come back thanks to the special rules of the final day of the Ranking, positioning himself in the second best ranked after defeating Seiya in a rematch. That's when he decides to battle Mikado once more. Light achieves an unexpected victory thanks to the hidden ability of Lævateinn Dragon, Dual Form Alpha.
Light is taken along with the rest of Seventh Flame, Ryoga Jasei and Mikado Shirogane to the Shadow Area where the battle against the Seven Shadows would take place, who promise to hand over Draconir's memories if they lose. Upon learning that Mikado lost his battle against Hiro Ryūgasaki, Light decides to part ways with his friends and go with Mikado, telling him that he cares about him since Shadowverse connects them.
Mikado continues the path through the Shadow Area followed by Light. At one point, Mikado has an outburst assuming that Light now believes himself superior to him, but Light deny it and tells him that he can overcome his defeat and that the two can become comrades, although unable to even say how to do such a thing, Mikado leaves on his own outside the designated route, although Light is glad to have reached Mikado even a little. Upon reaching the area where Subaru would have his battle, Light gives him the last encouragement he needs to face the challenge. Subaru would then give Light the data box with Draconir's memories that he won in his battle, which upon installing, reveals that Draconir has some connection to the "Arc Ruler".
Light and Subaru then gather with their other friends to support Mikado when he decides to battle Luca Yonazuki at Itsuki's request. Light manages to give Mikado the words of support he needed to stand above his psychological damage and win to tie the score with the Seven Shadows 4-4. Now it is his turn for the final battle, Light faces Hiro Ryugasaki. Hiro reveals that his intention is to find the Arc to destroy it in order to prevent the Tree of Woe from resurrecting. Although not understanding what the Arc is and the danger to the world, Light confronts Hiro to find his own answer. Hiro finally shows his true face behind the Seven Shadows mask, having found in Light the passionate player he was looking for.
When Light emerges the winner and the Arc finally appears, the Arc Ruler prevents Hiro from taking it, claiming that from then on, he will become the judge who will end humanity. Thus, he turns all of Nekome's DigiFriends into Shade monsters that unleash chaos.
Light and the rest are taken to Genesis Corporation to stop the Shade invasion led by the Arc Ruler. To do this, they are given the Nexa System and tasked with stopping the three towers created by the Arc Ruler. When Shion divides everyone into teams, Light is left alone with the objective of going to the World Tower, and although this worries the rest, Light assures that he will not be alone as long as Draconir is with him. Before leaving, Light convinces Marguerite to give the Nexa System to other players.
On the way to the World Tower, Draconir becomes frightened that the memories of Hiro's data box and the revelation that the Arc Ruler created the DigiFriends could mean that he is an ally of the Arc Ruler. However, Light assures him that although he is also afraid, the two are partners no matter what.
At the World Tower, Hiro and Draconir confront the Arc Ruler, who reveals to them the events of the Tree of Woe incident that led to his creation and his decision to destroy humanity to create a new world of digital life. Light decides to face him in a Shadowverse battle to stop him, but the Arc Ruler begins to expose his superiority and the fact that Light is not a chosen one and is just another example of human foolishness. However, Light continues forward, showing the Arc Ruler results he can't predict, especially the fact that in his supposedly absolute understanding of human emotions, he never considered "fun". When Draconir's evolution into Draconir, Burning Dragon gives Light the strength to win, Arc Ruler recognizes his connection with his partner as well as the one he formed with Light during the battle. However, before anything else could be done, Wolfram Zerga suddenly appears and steals the Arc.
Wolfram uses the Arc to revive the Tree of Woe and declares that Light must "rewrite his destiny" as the chosen one who will decide in a battle whether or not the world will fall into eternal sleep. Although his friends insist on going with him, seeing the fear of everyone in Nekome City leads Light to go on his own to confront Wolfram in the world inside the Tree of Woe.
While battling Wolfram, despite being enraged that Wolfram destroyed Shadowverse College, Light denies that he is an enemy of humanity and that Nexus must be controlling him. However, Wolfram claims to be in control and that his only desire is to bring equality to a new world, something he can only do after that battle which, according to him, is a "fair restart" because Light did not have the fate that corresponded him three years ago as the chosen owner of the eighth Mythical Card. This card, which turns out to be Arc Ruler's true form, manifests in Light's deck to give him a new power with the True Arms cards. However, Light soon finds himself without the resolve to save the world despite the support of his Mythical Card. Thus, although he summon the Omens, Wolfram defeats him with the power of the Four Knights, sentencing the end of the world.
Although Light tries to ask for another battle, Wolfram becomes enraged when he sees that Light did not end up as the "Chosen One" he expected and that he will not have another chance as in their previous conflicts. Arc Ruler saves him and Draconir from being eliminated by Wolfram and after taking them back to their world, Light asks him to transmit a message to the world apologizing for failing to save them all. However, Arc Ruler later reveals that there is still a way to save the world, as he, as the Mythical Card belonging to Portalcraft, the class that can directly affect the Tree of Woe, can reach the dimension where Nexus dwells. However, only Light could get there and if he lost again, he would never return, remaining forever trapped in the dimensional rift. When Light, despite acknowledging how scared he is, makes the decision to go, not just for the world, but for the excitement that it is the greatest battle of his life, Arc Ruler opens the door for their final duel.
While waiting inside a palace in Nexus's dimension, Wolfram is confronted by Light once more. Although Wolfram initially denies him the right to another battle, he soon sees that with Nexus' power nearly depleted, he would be unable to reset the world if he continued using it, and is forced to turn to Shadowverse. However, he warns Light that if he defeats him and leaves him without the protection of his Mythical Card, he could kill him for good. As they battle, Wolfram eventually reveals that after destroying the world, he plans to absorb the life energy of all living beings within the Tree of Woe in order to turn them into beings of mental energy without bodies or individuality, that he can control with the power of Nexus, thus returning humanity to an "equal" existence. Light however expresses that differences are what make people truly connect and that the right world is one where one can be whoever they truly are, just as he is facing it not as a chosen one or the savior, only as Light Tenryu. As Wolfram grows increasingly enraged as Light berates him for his selfish ways to deal with the world he hates, Light finds himself backed into a corner by the Judgment Deck's combo. However, thanks to the true power of Proof of Truth, Light summons the evolved DigiFriends, and with them, his friends who come to fight by his side. Winning the battle, Mikado and the rest use their ace cards to clear the way for Light and save Wolfram.
Just before the Tree of Woe disappears, Arc Ruler offers Seventh Flame to make everyone forget that they saved the world so they can go on with their normal lives. Light accepts, saying that he doesn't want to be a hero.
Upon returning, Light invites him to officially join Seventh Flame, but Mikado declines, saying that he doesn't want to be by Light's side, but instead stands in front of him as his rival. The two then have a World Ranking tiebreaker battle, which ends up attracting everyone's attention.
Personality[]
Light is a boy that appears to be cool, but is somewhat fitzy and out of touch. He may be slow to understand certain things, completely ignoring when others speak to him with ulterior motives. Yet he is honest, compassionate and kind-hearted, he always keeps his promises no matter the cost and never ignores someone in distress. He always has a positive and collected attitude in the face of adversity, rarely losing his cool.
Despite initially knowing nothing about Shadowverse, Light quickly develops a strong attachment to the game, seeing it as a way to connect with others.
Deck[]
Light uses a Dragoncraft deck given to him by Wolfram Zerga. This deck centered into Arming its followers through the abilities of cards like Draconic Weapon and Draconic Armor, facilitated by Draconir, Knuckle Dragon, Draconic Smash and Lævateinn Dragon. Light later includes more Armed followers like Lance Lizard and ways to obtain Draconic Weapons in order to access the three different evolved forms of Lævateinn Dragon.
Subsequently, Light rebuilds his deck with the new cards he gains in the Shadowverse World Ranking, especially Dual Rage, which gives him access to the Dual Forms of Lævateinn Dragon, wich combines the attributes of its evolved forms into a single follower.
During his battle with Wolfram, Light obtains the Portalcraft Mythical Card, Arclight Ruler, which transforms his deck with True Arms cards.
