Rei Saotome is a Runecraft leader in Shadowverse and a supporting character in Shadowverse: Champion's Battle. He is a 3rd year student at Tensei Academy and the president of the Shadowverse club.
Biography[]
Rei is the founder and president of the Shadowverse club at Tensei Academy. At first, the club was going well, until Rei began to force the other members to change their decks and practice for the sole purpose of winning instead of enjoying the game. This caused everyone to leave the club, leaving him as the only member.
While the club was about to be shut down by the scholar council, Hiro, Mimori, Kazuki and the protagonist arrives wanting to join it. Rei apologies for the club current status, but his new friends manages to convince the council of allowing to keep it if they find at least two other members, who eventually are Kai and Kagura.
Rei later becomes distant to the club and stop attending school. He later meets with the Player and reveals that he is leaving the club in order to improve as a Shadowverse player on his own and to be true to himself. He is then officially transferred to Obsidian Academy, joining it's Shadowverse club, and visiting a place called the Underverse Arena.
Rei then participates in the National Tournament with a new competitive attitude. He speaks to the Player before their final match and reveals the reason for the Shadowverse club almost disbandment and admits that even when he tried to change his obsession with winning, he couldn't and instead embraced it, causing his new attitude. The Player and Rei face off in the final match and the Player wins the match and Nationals. Rei admits admits defeat, impressed with the Player's skill and resolve, and tells them that one day they will have a rematch.
Personality[]
At first, Rei seems timid, nervous, and unreliable despite being an upperclassman. It is later revealed that this is because his club mates abandoned him due to his obsession with winning. When he plays Shadowverse, he totally changes becoming exuberant, competitive and sinister.
Deck[]
Rei uses a Bloodcraft deck with Bloodlust Demon as his main card.
He also uses a Runecraft deck while on his timid persona.
