Ren Kazamatsuri is a Swordcraft leader in Shadowverse and a main character in Shadowverse Flame. Her Digital Friend is Amerro.
Biography[]
She is a 1st year student at Shadoba College, being a junior to Light Tenryu and his friends.
Being a very athletic girl, she joined Fifth Sword because she thought it would be where she would fit in best, but this only exacerbated her isolation due to the boys underestimating her and the girls not being as interested in training.
She bumps into Light and his friends in the plaza when she and Itsuki win the prize the other wanted in a raffle and decide to trade them. Ren then tells them about her situation and Light invites her to Seventh Flame. This sparks a conflict with Tastumi Raido who, unwilling to lose a member of his club, accepts a Shadowverse battle against Itsuki. Ren finally got permission to join Seventh Flame after Itsuki's victory, promising her former club mates to still be friends.
Looking to bond with the new member, Tsubasa Takanashi, Ren looks after her and finally convince her to have a battle in wich Ren transmits her passion about her dreams, which goes trough Tsubasa's cold behavior.
The next day the two decide to learn more about Gentleman, discovering their true identity in the arcade center.
Ren is the third representative of Seventh Flame in the Shadowverse Club Tournament, facing Tatsumi Raido. After an impressive battle, Ren manages to openly show her passion for what she loves.
Ren later joins the Shadowverse World Ranking along her clubmates, but stuck in an equal number of victories and loses. During the third day of the competition, Ren meets Hina Sinclair, who makes her take her to the toy store. There the two come into conflict over their opposing tastes in heroes and villains, so they decide to settle it with a Shadowverse battle. As Ren manages to win with an unexpected comeback, she gets enough points to reach the 6th place of the top 7.
During the final day of the Ranking, Ren is challenged by the Joubert Sisters, managing to defeat Vivian Joubert and keeping her position int he ranking.
Ren is taken along with the rest of Seventh Flame, Ryoga Jasei and Mikado Shirogane to the Shadow Area where the battle against the Seven Shadows would take place. Ren is excited at the prospect of having another battle with Hina, seeing her as her "Battle Fencer comrade". However, Hina expresses a total rejection of such an idea and insists that she always stands alone, even though Ren makes her think that perhaps this is not so.
After meeting with Tsubasa, the two go to Shion who was at a crossroads during their battle against Warden Craft. Ren tries to convince Shion that they are friends, but Shion doubts that this friendship will last. However, when Shion was about to lose, Ren jumps to protect her, exclaiming that everyone can be who they are and stay together without having to change. This inspires Shion to continue the battle and ultimately win.
After supporting Light in the final battle against Hiro Ryugasaki, Itsuki and the rest are taken to Genesis Corporation to stop the Shade invasion led by the Arc Ruler. To do this, they are given the Nexa System and tasked with stopping the three towers created by the Arc Ruler. When Shion divides everyone into teams, Ren is assigned to the Sky Tower along Tsubasa.
However, on the way to the tower fighting the Shades, Tsubasa and Ren are intercepted by Andrea and Hina, who attack them and then challenge them to a tag battle with a modified system that generates a biological feedback that damages the real body. Both Ren and Tsubasa try to reason with Hina and Andrea who had decided to "give up on the world" and therefore let it be destroyed, but the two deny their reasons, stating that none of them know true despair like they do. Even so, Ren and Tsubasa win thanks to the evolution of their DigiFriends.
When the ground begins to give way due to the damage from the battle, both Hina and Andrea fall into the void. Although Ren tries to save Hina, she throws herself saying that it is too late for the hero to save her, leaving Ren heartbroken.
After watching Wolfram Zerga's broadcast announcing that he will battle Light to decide the fate of the world, Ren and the rest of Seventh Flame run to go with him, but Light decides to go alone when he sees the fear of everyone in the city. When everyone gathers together after Light loses, and he decides to go face Wolfram once more at the risk of never coming back, Ren is the first to try to stop him, saying that he doesn't have to be the Messiah savior just like she's not a real heroine (due to unable to save Hina). However, Light makes the decision to go not just for the world, but for the excitement that it is the greatest battle of his life. Everyone then assures him that no matter what happens, they will be together again.
However, when Light uses Proof of Truth's effect to summon his friends' DigiFriends, this also summons his friends due to the bond each of them has with their DigiFriends. Ren supports Light when he plays Amerro, Spear Hero. Winning the battle, Ren and the rest use their ace cards to clear the way for Light and save Wolfram.
Just before the Tree of Woe disappears, Arc Ruler offers Seventh Flame to make everyone forget that they saved the world so they can go on with their normal lives. Ren agrees saying that only they need to remember what happened.
Upon returning, Ren and Seventh Flame organize a party at the club to celebrate. However, they end up going to watch the battle between Light and Mikado.
Personality[]
Ren is a kind, energetic and considerate girl. She tends to be loud and get overexcited in almost every situation, always maintaining a cheerful and positive attitude. She has problems in her personal relationships due to her lack of interest in girl things, preferring more masculine things like heroes and sports. This leads her to believe that her tastes are inappropriate and not to share them with her peers, which makes her feel out of place. However, after joining Seventh Flame, Ren learned not to be ashamed of what she is passionate about.
Her passion for heroes stems from the Battle Fencer show that inspired her as a child to become braver and overcome her fragile state of health. Since then, she always manages to give herself courage by drawing inspiration from her favorite hero.
Deck[]
Ren uses a Swordcraft deck focused on Heroic followers who take advantage of having damaged followers in play. She also uses combos to swarm the board by restoring play points and reducing her followers's costs.
