"Now now, how would you like to end?" |
Rivayle is the setting of Fate's Trigger, Fate's Trigger: Conclusion and The Final Loop.
It is the home of Bunny, Baron, Maiser, Selena, and Illganeau. Rivayle is ruled by three demigods, Vincent, Nahtnaught and Iceschillendrig, known as the Titans.
Though it now exists as a separate world operating on its own timeline, Vellsar was once a future version of Rivayle.
History[]
“ | "In the beginning, this world was an infinite wasteland. No life, no form. There was but only a solitary stone. And the one who picked up that stone would later become known as a god. Now, that god split itself into three parts. Its aspect which sought violence was inherited by a king who ruled through Force. Its aspect which sought peace was inherited by a king who ruled through Order. And its leftover aspect, the one that craved for its lost parts... He lived forevermore, and became a king that ruled through Prosperity." -Iceschillendrig

Upon being released from the Keeper of Stagnation, Fleauesse found herself in an empty world containing only a single stone, which later became known as the Lodestone. Using her great power as a former Vessel, she created an entirely new world now known as Rivayle. Instead of choosing to rule over her domain as its goddess, she split and personified three aspects of herself into a trio of demigods, called the Titans. These were the original Titan of Force, the original Titan of Order, and Iceschillendrig, the Titan of Prosperity.
It is widely believed by the people of Rivayle, including the Titans themselves, that the world's creator god ceased to exist once it split into the Titans. In reality, Fleauesse is very much still alive, keeping an eye on and protecting her world from the background under the guise of a simple fortune-teller. Her true identity as Rivayle's creator is not known by anyone in her world, until she reveals it herself in The Final Loop. Even Iceschillendrig no longer recalls having been created by Fleauesse, due to his memory fading over time, or he simply may have come into existence never knowing the truth of his origins.
The original Titan of Force was a woman who "overflowed with might. Her vigor aroused strength in the limbs of mortals and set the world in motion." The original Titan of Order was a man who "wished for peace. His calm evoked reason in the minds of mortals and brought to the world balance." Meanwhile, Iceschillendrig "hungered for fortune. His appetency kindled ambition in the hearts of mortals and bound the world together." It is through these beginnings that Rivayle developed as a society and became how we know it today.
However, despite their divine nature, the Titans were not fully immortal. Though incapable of aging physically, with enough time their bodies would eventually begin to succumb to disease and decay, leading to their death. Therefore at some point, the original Titans of Force and Order each gave their power, title, and overall status over to a successor. Nahtnaught and Vincent are the latest in the Titan of Force and Titan of Order's line of successors respectively. It is not known how many former Titans of their aspects preceded them.
Due to his insatiable craving to once again be a true god along with his fear of death, Iceschillendrig refused to appoint a successor and instead continued to live as the only Titan of Prosperity who has ever existed, despite falling gravely ill due to his age. At some point, he began to work with Fleauesse to find a method of truly living forever, regardless of not trusting and knowing very little about her. Wretches came into being as a result of her "diverting the flow of life and death" and Zecilwenshe was given his magical enhancements.

“ | "Welcome to Rivayle, where folk are poor and lives are short. It's eat or be eaten, and that's the way it's always been. But there's tell of a couple of bandit lords who look like haze and fight like hellfire. People call 'em Bunny and Baron. And they're gonna change this here world." -Bunny & Baron, Specter Duo card flair

Rivayle is a desert world inhabited by humans, with two suns, one of which is permanently eclipsed. It is similar to the American frontier (also known as the Old West or the Wild West) but with more advanced technology, such as automobiles, as well as magic. Rivaylians are capable of using mana to cast spells. In the English localization, the Rivaylian dialect and manner of speaking is equivocal to that of various American southern accents.
The primary civilization of Rivayle is described as a large city split into two townships: Dustholme and The Golden Hills. The audits given out by Iceschillendrig imply that Rivayle's currency is gold coins, also suggesting that gold mines are present somewhere in the world, though none have been seen as of yet.
Rivayle's governing bodies are its Titans. Vincent, the current Titan of Order, acts as Sheriff of both townships. However, despite he and his deputies doing their best to maintain justice and keep the peace, crime and violence still run rampant. Classism is another of Rivayle's major social issues, with a significant divide between the rich and poor. It is common for children to become abandoned or orphaned due to the death or poverty of their parents.
All business and goods manufacturing is controlled by Iceschillendrig and his "Syndicate" (紅玉財団 kougyoku zaidan, lit. "red gemstone organization"; the English localization omits the organization's name and instead refers to it as simply "Icey's Syndicate"), which is based out of The Golden Hills. Because of the harsh desert environment, Magitrains are essential to life and transportation across long distances. These trains are also owned operated by Icey's Syndicate. Train stations are located all over Rivayle and its railway system is described as "intricate and vein-like."
There is at least one church in Rivayle, the clergy of which looks after orphaned children, including Maiser and Selena when they were young. While many details of the church's religion are not known, it appears to be a polytheistic faith that worships multiple gods, including the one that created Rivayle and is believed to have split into the original three Titans. The church has a secret alliance with Vincent, and chooses one of its followers to become an assassin to conduct secret killings of criminals identified by Vincent.
Dustholme[]
Dustholme is the township inhabited by Rivayle's poor and low class citizens. It is ruled by Nahtnaught, the current Titan of Force.
Some notable locations in Dustholme include the "Spurred On" saloon, a bar and favorite hangout of Bunny & Baron, and the church where Selena lives and takes care of orphaned children. This is also same church where she and Maiser grew up.
The Golden Hills[]
The Golden Hills is the township inhabited by Rivayle's rich and high class citizens. It is ruled by Iceschillendrig, the Titan of Prosperity.
Some of its notable locations include Iceschillendrig's mansion. As a child, Bunny once lived in The Golden Hills before the death of her mother. Illganeau also lived here until she and her family were killed by Zecilwenshe.
