Story[]
Chapter 1: The Beginning[]
The Player arrives at the Tensei Academy Dormitory after transferring in and meets the dorm supervisor, Kobayashi. Immediately after, the start of school is announced and the Player leaves to start their first day of class. On the way to class, the Player meets Hiro Ryusaki, but their meeting nearly causes them to be late. They are chastised by student council president, Kagura Kirisame, before barely making it to class on time. Hiro meets with his friends Kazuki Shindo and Mimori Amamiya, who introduce themselves to the Player before class starts. When the Player realizes they forgot their phone in the dormitory, Hiro and the others promise to buy time with the lax teacher, Mr. Makise, so they can retrieve it. After retrieving the phone from Kobayashi, the Player is formally introduced to their classmates. After class ends, Hiro asks the Player to help him find a rumored Shadowverse club in school, only to learn the Player doesn't know anything about the game. Hiro installs Shadowverse on the Player's phone, gives them a Shadowverse Gauntlet so they can play, and Mimori instructs the Player how to player the game in a practice match.
Once the practice match is finished, the Player faces Hiro in an official match. After the Player wins, the group suggests the Player check out the Shadowvendor in the school courtyard to expand their deck. There, Hiro explains how to use build decks, use deck codes, and win cards from other players. Afterward, the group decides to start looking for the rumored Shadowverse club at school and start by asking about the classroom and the club advisor. After gathering information, the group deduces the club advisor is Mr. Makise and confront him. Mr. Makise admits he is the club advisor, agrees to let the group into the club, and advises the group visit the clubroom. Upon entering the room, they meet the Shadowvers club's president and only member, Rei Saotome, who reluctantly refuses to let the group into the club. When the group tries to question him, Kagura arrives and declares the Shadowverse club is to be disbanded. The group objects to Kagura's decision and Kagura agrees to not immediately disband the club if they can each defeat a member of the student council. After the group passes Kagura's challenge, she agrees to postpone the club's cancelation on a provisional basis, warning that the club could still be disbanded if it cannot meet her requirements of a minimum of seven members and win the national Shadowverse Championship to prove the club can achieve results. The group decides to try and find more members tomorrow and head home.
Chapter 2: The Shadowverse Club[]
The next day, the Player walks to school with Kazuki and Mimori who explain the rank system in Shadowverse and how to advance in it. After class, the club begins searching for new members among the first-years students. While searching, the Player learns about a skilled Shadowverse player named Kai Injun and goes to the Shadowverse Stadium to recruit him. On the way to the stadium, the Player is bumped into by a mysterious girl who makes them help her avoid her manager and promises to see them again before running off. When the Player finds Kai and ask him to join the Shadowverse club, Kai agrees to join if the Player can defeat him. After Kai is defeated, he keeps his word and eagerly joins the Shadowverse club.
Chapter 3: The Seventh Member[]
On the way to school the next day, the club discusses finding the seventh member for the club and Kai reveals he has an idea. After class, the club meets in the clubroom and Kai suggests that the best way to recruit more members is to promote the club itself by winning more matches and everyone splits up find some matches. As the Player helps the others promote the Shadowverse club over the next few days, they repeatedly see Kagura working herself hard until she collapses, and the Player takes her to the nurse's office. Once Kagura wakes up, she brushes aside the Player's concerns about her health and leaves, accidentally leaving behind a keychain that the Player picks up. After the Player finished helping the others promote the club. a meeting is held in the clubroom to discuss the next step. Hiro suggests defeating a well-known Shadowverse player to draw further attention to the club and Kai suggests they look for a player called the Masked Maestro and pro player, Seiya Kibakura. The group heads to the Shadowverse Stadium where the find the Masked Maestro battling. Hiro challenges the Masked Maestro to a battle, but she turns them down and leaves. After the others decide to battle against other opponents to promote the club, the Player is approached by Seiya, who was seeking the Masked Maestro, but he decides to battle the Player instead. Even though the Player defeats Seiya, they realize that he was holding back, and Seiya recognizes Kagura's keychain the Player picked up is the based on Masked Maestro's favorite card before leaving causing the Player to realize Kagura is the Masked Maestro.
The next day, Kai apologizes to the club for the slow progress in finding new members. The club continues trying to find a seventh member but can't recruit anyone and the Player decides to confront Kagura with the others offering their support. When the reach the student council room, Kagura assumes they are giving up on the club, but the Player reveals they are there to recruit Kagura herself into the club. Kagure refuses on the claim she doesn't care for Shadowverse, but the Player also reveals she is the Masked Maestro using her keychain as proof. Completely exposed, Kagura admits she is the Masked Maestro, but since her family business is involved with the production of Shadowverse, she wasn't allowed to treat it like anything but a business, causing her to use the Masked Maestro alias to be able to enjoy the game without her family knowing. She also reveals that she knew that she would eventually be found out and when that time came, she would quit the student council. Even though Kagura's resignation would buy time for the Shadowverse club to find a seventh member, the club implores her to reconsider and join the club since she loves Shadowverse as much as them Realizing the club's resolve, Kagura dons her mask and agrees to join if one of the club members can defeat her. After the Player defeats Kagura, she agrees to join the club as an interim member, but she makes it clear that the club will still have to win nationals to stay active.
Chapter 4: The Battle for the Bronze[]
On the way to the clubroom the next day, the Player finds Kagura arguing with members of the soccer club and ends up battling them to defend Kagura's good name. After the Player wins, Kagura chastises them for their reckless behavior (though she later admits to herself she just had trouble admitting her gratitude), and the Player goes into the clubroom for the day's club meeting. The club, minus Rei who was unable to attend, head to the Shadowverse Stadium and register for nationals. Upon registering for the cup, the club learns that they will have to win three class tournaments and reach master rank to qualify for nationals. The first-class tournament is the bronze cup, so the group decides to rank up in order to compete.
The next day, on the way to the clubroom, the Player bumps into a hostile student, but puts it aside and goes to the day's club meeting. There, Kai warns everyone there is a Shadowverse player stealing the phones of those he defeats. Hiro heads out and the others worry he might go after the phone snatcher, so the Player goes after him. When the Player finds Hiro, they are convinced to join him in stopping the phone snatcher. On the way back from school, the Player is approached by a mysterious student who introduces himself as Luca Yonazuki who finds himself intrigued by the Player. That night, the Player sneaks out and meets with Hiro in the alleys where the phone snatcher has been spotted. They immediately find the phone snatcher's latest victim but fail to find the phone snatcher and decide to as Mr. Makise for help. On the way back to the dorms, the Player is approached by a mysterious boy who introduces himself as Mauro Abelard, who quickly leaves after assessing the Player. When the Player and Hiro go to Mr. Makise the next day, he suggests the two talk to Kagura about the phone snatcher's identity. Kagura reluctant tells the two their description of the phone snatcher matches a student names Takuma Kibakura. Now knowing the identity of the phone snatcher, the two confront Takuma and demand he return the stolen phones if they beat him in Shadowverse. Takuma agrees to face them in the bronze cup and Hiro agrees to his demand.
After the Player reaches B Rank, the group decides to participate in different locations for the bronze cup and the Player decides to face Takuma in the stadium where he will be competing. Once the others decide where to participate in the bronze, Mimori wishes the Player luck in facing Takuma, having known what they and Hiro were up to, The Player enters the bronze cup and makes it to the final round where they face and defeat Takuma. Takuma, though frustrated by his loss, agrees to return the phones he stole, and the Player wins the bronze cup. Meanwhile, Kai is defeated by Luca in his bronze cup and Leon Aurenche takes notice of the Player, sending the Joubert sisters to test them.
Chapter 5: Silver Struggles[]
During the next club meeting, Kai apologizes for losing his bronze cup, but refocuses himself and comes up with a plan to gather information on how to handle the strongest players in the Silver Cup. Kai explains the players they need to look out for are Marcel Tabeoka, Miyabi Zaizenji, and Luca Yonazuki. Since there is no information about Luca, the club decides to focus on researching the other players. While the Player gathers information, he is approached by each of the Joubert sisters,  Vivian and Vanessa. After getting information about Marcel and Miyabi from Seiya and the mysterious girl and reaching A Rank, the club holds a meeting to discuss what was learned. However, they discover a pro player, Shiro Kiriyama, will be competing in the silver cup, but the group is undeterred and agrees to continue in the tournaments.
The Player enters the silver cup and reaches the semifinals after defeating Marcel and Miyabi, but Shiro is defeat by Vivian. The Player faces Vivian in the semifinals and defeats her. Vivian is furious at her loss, but Vanessa shoes her away before facing the Player as their final round opponent. After the Player defeats Vanessa, she promises to meet them again and the Player wins the silver cup. Later, Leon decides to not send another agent to test the Player, believing the gold cup would be enough of a challenge, and begins researching Rei.
Chapter 6: Going for Gold[]
The next day, the Player spots Rei hanging around some students from Obsidian Academy and follows them but loses them in the back alleys. On the way into school, Mr. Makise approaches the Player and asks them to meet him in his office after class. After class, the Player meets with Mr. Makise who apologizes for not having much faith in the Shadowverse Club's dedication and reveals Rei hasn't come to school in several day. After reaching AA Rank to compete in the gold cup, the Player meets Seiya who reveals he will be competing in the cup and won't hold back this time. The Player decides to ask Takuma about Seiya's deck and ends up saving him from Obsidian Academy students from whom he stole their phones with some help from Mauro. Reluctantly, Takuma agrees to tell the Player about Seiya's deck in order to repay the Player for helping him. Afterward, the Player meets with Hiro who asks the Player to help find Rei, who is nowhere to be found.
That night, the Player finds Rei, who agrees to meet at the dorms in the morning where he reveals he is leaving the club in order to improve as a Shadowverse Player on his own and to be true to himself. Rei leaves with some students from Obsidian Academy and the Player tells the rest of the club about Rei during the next meeting. Despite the confusion about Rei's decision, the club decides to keep focusing on the tournaments to keep the club open. However, unlike the previous tournaments, the gold cup will only be held in one location, meaning the club members won't be able to avoid facing each other.
When the gold cup starts, the Player makes it to the finals after defeating Ko, Mauro, and Seiya where they face Hiro. After defeating Hiro, the Player wins the gold cup and qualifies for nationals along with Hiro since they were both in the top three. The rest of the club arrives to congratulate them and Hiro for making it to the nationals. Meanwhile, Leon discovers the Player's victory and pulls up a file on Rei.
Chapter 7: Into the Underverse[]
When the club meets the next day, Kai reveals that in order to play in nationals, participants must be Master Rank. Also, the others are still worried about Rei and Kai suggest searching Takome, the town where Obsidian Academy is, while trying to rank up. While the Player wins matches to rank up, they learn Rei has officially transferred to Obsidian Academy, joined it's Shadowverse club, and visiting a place called the Underverse Arena.
After the Player reaches Master rank, the club discovers the school put up a banner in support of the club thanks to Mr. Makise's efforts and it has grown immense in popularity. After class Kai calls an emergency meeting at the Shadowverse Stadium to discuss Rei and the Player reveals what they learned about him. Kai recognizes the Underverse Arena as an unofficial place where players compete when they grow bored of regular matches. The Player decides to travel to the Underverse Arena to investigate. When they arrive at the arena entrance, the bouncer refuses to let them in, but the Joubert sisters appear and allow the Player to enter. Upon entering the arena, the Player learns that several players there apply special rules to their matches and umbra coins can be won by winning matches and used to buy cards and advance deeper into the arena after defeating the respective champion of each level. They also learn Rei used to frequent the arena, but hasn't been seen in a while, and they decide to search the arena for any trace of Rei. The Player learns that Luca is the champion of the arena's lowest floor, and he agrees to tell the Player about Rei if they make it to his level, defeat Mauro, and then defeat him. When they reach the second level, the Joubert sisters, who are the champions of the level, reveal they will only battle the Player if they possess a literal one-of-a-kind card called Shadow Bahamut. With no clue how to find the Shadow Bahamut card, the Player decides to return to the dorm.
Chapter 8: The Prince of Shadows[]
In the next club meeting, the other club members promise to help the Player however they can and begin thinking of ways to find the card. They determine the best way to find information about the card is to ask pro players. The Player questions several pro players they faced during the previous tournaments and learns the card was recently bought by a high-level player for an exuberant price. The club determines Kagura might know something about the card and she eventually reveals it is in the possession of Genesis Corp's, the company that created Shadowverse, CEO, Leon Aurenche. While the club tries to think of a way to meet Leo, the CEO appears in person in the clubroom. Leon explains he came because his duties as Shadowverse's creator is to personally greet the Players who have qualified for nationals. He also reveals he knows about the club's efforts to find his Shadow Bahumut card and agrees to speak with them about it in his office. There, Leon agrees to give them the Shadow Bahumut card if three of the club members (including the Player) defeat him in Shadowverse, but if the club loses, their rank will be reset. After the club completes Leon's challenge, he commends them and rewards them with the Shadow Bahamut card.
With the card in hand, the Player challenges and defeats the Joubert sisters in the Underverse Arena, granting them access to the third and final floor. However, when the Joubert sisters try to kidnap the Player for their own goals, Kagura arrives and drives the sisters away. Kagura admits she came to the Underverse Arena to keep an eye on the Player in case they got into trouble and the Player invites her to join the club's celebration for reaching finals. There, Kagura expresses her appreciation for helping her express her real feelings and becomes closer to the club. That night, Luca prepares for the Player to face him in the Arena.
The next day, the club focuses on ranking up to compete in nationals while the Player continues to search for Rei. When the Player earns enough umbra coins to face Mauro, they learn from other Players that the special ability he uses makes him undefeated and asks the other Players in the arena for tips on how to overcome it. Armed with knowledge on how to deal with Mauro's ability, the Player is able to defeat him and finally face Luca. After Luca is defeated, he reveals Rei is entering the national tournament. The Players tells the club about what they learned, and everyone decides to speak with Rei. The rest of the club works to reach Master Rank and qualifies for nationals with the Player.
Chapter 9: Shadowverse Showdown![]
On the day nationals start, it is announced that the first round of nationals will be a free for all with participates battling each other to earn points and the top sixteen competitors will head to the second round. After the first-round ends, the entire Shadowverse club is revealed to have made it to the second round and Mr. Makise arrives with several students from Tensei to cheer for them. When the finalists for nationals gather for the second round, Rei arrives as the favorite to win and he declares he will win the nationals in a new competitive attitude The Player makes his way to the final round after defeating Kagura, Hiro, and Luca, and finds Rei is his opponent. Rei speaks to the Player before the final match and reveals the reason the Shadowverse club was almost disbanded was that his extreme drive to win caused him to push the previous club members too hard and they quit when they couldn't stand it anymore. Rei tried to change his obsession with winning, but he couldn't abandon his drive to win and instead embraced it, causing his new attitude. The Player and Rei face off in the final match and the Player wins the match and nationals. Rei admits defeat, impressed with the Player's skill and resolve, and tells them that one day they will have a rematch. With nationals won and the club saved, the credits roll and the game ends
Chapter 10: The Call to Grandness[]
Sometime after nationals, the Player gets a message from Leon who reveals that if the Player can meet his requirements and defeat him again, they will be award the rank of Grand Master. The Player tells the club about Leon's challenge, and they give their encouragement to the Player. Afterward, the Player receives a message from Marguerite Valois who gives them the requirements to defeat Leon: acquire a minimum of 100 deck codes, collect Genesis Keys hidden around Nekome and Takanome, and defeat several opponents presented by Leon.
After acquiring the deck codes and Genesis keys, the Player meets with Leon's assistant, Marguerite, and faces a series of Shadowverse players called the Shadow Knights. After defeating the Shadow Knights and Marguerite, the Player faces Leon to earn the rank of Grand Master. After defeating Leon, the Player is awarded the rank of Grand Master and head to the clubroom to tell the club members about their achievement. On the way to the clubroom, the Player runs into Rei, who promises to also reach Grand Master rank and have a rematch. When the Player tells club about reaching Grand Master rank, the congratulate the Player and vow to continue their adventures with Shadowverse.
