The Final Loop is the 14th chapter of Story Mode. It takes place after the group in Vellsar becomes aware of the time loop and are sent back to pass the trial of Rivayle.

Chapters[]

1. The Last Reset[]

Rivayle was once an empty world except for a single stone. A god arrived and created life in the world, splitting itself into three incarnates to oversee that life, the Titans. However, for life in Rivayle to survive, Fleauesse was forced to create a time loop so a fate could be created where Rivayle would survive. No matter how many times the cycle repeated, Rivayle always reached the same fate, with the bullet Fleauesse gave to Bunny never reaching its intended target. Despite the countless tragedies and cycles, a group has emerged from Vellsar to change that fate. Fleauesse declares all she has done is to prepare for the arrival of Nexus.

2. Reset and Restart[]

Despite minor differences between the cycles, the deaths of Illganeau, Baron, Maiser, Selena, and Bunny are repeated. The cycles repeat countless times, and despite things changing between them, they all reach the same ending: the destruction of Rivayle.

3. Restarting Hope[]

In a new cycle, Bunny and Baron lead the rebellion against Iceshillendrig and team up with Illganeau. The three are ambushed by Zecilwenshe and Baron takes him on alone while Illganeau and Bunny leave to attack Iceshillendrig's henchmen. While searching for Iceshillendrig, Illganeau is attacked by Zecilwenshe, who reveals he is the one who murdered her and her family. Zecilwenshe overpowers Illganeau, but his finishing strike is deflected by the bullet Illgeneau found from Selena. He continues attacking and prepares to kill Illganeau, but he is stopped by Kagero, who has arrived from Vellsar. Kagero's power allows him to wound Zecilwenshe without harming the host he is possessing, and he declares he is one of many hopes for Rivayle.

4. Hope vs. Despair[]

Before arriving in Rivayle, the group in Vellsar is warned by Fleauesse she can only send them back once, but the group rallies to pass the trial. Fleauesse sends the group back in time and they arrive in Rivayle, but they don't know what to do. Aluzard decides to find the critical moment which causes Rivayle's transformation into Vellsar and change the mistake that would cause it. The group hears the gunfire from the rebellion led by Nahtnaught and decide to use the chaos to find the information they need. The group splits up and Kagero finds Zecilwenshe attacking Illganeau. Following his intuition, Kagero intervenes and aids Illganeau. He recognizes the battle was one of the critical moments and teams up with Illganeau to fight Zecilwenshe.

During the fight, Zecilwenshe boasts he has infinite vessels and is invincible. However, Kagero is able to directly wound Zecilwenshe instead of his possessed victim with his power. Illganeau provides a distraction by attacking Zecilwenshe for his sadistic murders, allowing Kagero to strike Zecilwenshe with his Art of Rejuvenation, landing a critical blow to Zecilwenshe's spiritual core and incapacitating him for the time. Before Illganeau can resume her hunt for Iceshillendrig, Kagero asks about the bullet that saved her earlier, his intutition telling him it is great importance. Illganeau gives Kagero the bullet and the latter tell the former he sense the same guilty of murder he has in her, and urges her to seek a new path other than revenge. Illganeau leaves and Kagero wonders what purpose the bullet he was given has, sensing the fate of Rivayle is finally beginning to change direction.

5. Despair We Shall Not[]

During Baron's battle with Zecilwenshe, Baron figures out Zecilwenshe's weakness is his magic limit. However, the battle is interrupted when the two witness visions of Zecilwenshe commanding wretches against Baron, something he is unable to do since he failed to defeat Illgeaneau in the current cycle. Zecilwenshe feels the strike Kagero inflicted on one of his bodies, giving Baron an opening to attack and kill his current body before facing more henchmen. During Bunny's battle with Zecilwenshe's bodies, all of the bodies feel the pain of Kagero's attack and wonder what is happening in Rivayle. Sekka arrives to help Bunny fight the wounded Zecilwenshe.

During the fight, Sekka, an embodiment of magic itself, recognizes Zecilwenshe is similar to her. Bunny kills Zecilwenshe's body and Sekka asks her about the trial of Rivayle, revealing the time loop. When Bunny mentions that she plans to go out in a blaze of glory with Baron, Sekka asks her is Baron wants the same thing. Bunny explains her connection with Baron and mentions the trial Fleauesses mentioned to her. Bunny is indifferent to the trial until Sekka reminds her about the time loops, but before they can discuss it further, they are attacked by Iceshillendrig's henchmen.

6. Not the Friendliest Encounter[]

During Selena and Maiser's battle against Zecilwenshe, the latter feels pain from Kagero's attack. Maiser prepares to fire at Zecilwenshe and the latter prepares to reveal something, but is killed by Drache. Selena is distrustful of Drache and Zecilwenshe rises in another body to reveal her anger is because she is trying to keep Maiser from learning that he has been killing innocent citizens that Zecilwenseh has been possessing. Zecilwenshe escapes after slitting the throat of the body he is currently possessing and despite Selena's attempts to convince Maiser otherwise, he learns the truth of his actions. Drache confirms the reality of the situation and Selena, angered at Drache's meddling, aims her gun at him. Despite not wanting to fight and Selena's threat, Drache refuses to take back his words about reality about how people have died. In a desperate attempt to keep Maiser from accepting the reality of his actions, Selena attacks Drache. Despite Maiser's attempts to calm her, Selena drags him into the fight against Drache, but Drache expresses his anger at the situation he is in and the two refusing to accept reality and fights back.

Drache proves to be resilient against Selena and Maiser's magic and continues declaring that people have died by the two's hands during their fight with Zecilwenshe. Maiser stops Selena's attempts to deny reality and accepts what he has done and explains to Drache how he accidently killed a woman in the past and how it affected him. Drache shares memories of cycles where he killed his clan and loved ones and accuses Maiser of pushing his need for forgiveness onto others. He then condemns Selena for trying to hide Maiser from reality and tells Maiser that his sins are not meant for judgement but a burden he must carry. He then asks them about the trial of Rivayle and Maiser explains they are after Iceshillendrig, giving Drache a sense of direction. Before leaving, Drache tells Maiser and Selena they must face their actions instead of hiding from them. Though distraught by the ordeal, Selena decides to continue going after Iceshillendrig to end his reign, brushing off Maiser when he tries to come with her. Maiser apologizes to those he's killed and promises to bear his sins and protect Selena.

7. Encounter Across Time[]

While searching for clues, Aluzard discovers Arisa, the spitting image of the Lord of Darkness, fighting Iceshillendrig's henchmen. He defeats the henchmen and recognizes Arisa is different from the Lord of Darknes he knows and prepares to kill her to prevent the Lord of Darkness's reign from starting. However, he quickly discovers that Arisa is a completely different from the Lord of Darkness in terms of personality when Arisa explains she wants to save the world and decides to wait before deciding to killing her. Aluzard explains he is from Rivayle's future, reveals the time loop he has come to end, and the future of Arisa's form as the Lord of Darkness. Arisa explains her hunt for the Keepers, her separation from her allies, and to her mission to save Losaria from Nexus. The two are beset by more of Iceshillendrig's henchmen and team up to fight them.

After defeating the henchmen, Aluzard wonders why Iceshillendrig commands such weak underlings to fight for him with no powerful champions while he hides away. He questions Arisa what she knows of Rivayle and she describes the three titans. Aluzard realizes that Iceshillendrig's forces are too weak to be a threat to Rivayle's future and questions what he is after. He also realizes that the Titans are waiting to act and the real trial of Rivayle has yet to come.

8. Timely Strategems[]

Iceshillendrig is informed that Zecilwenshe has received fatal wounds and grows excited that someone other than a Titan could defeat him. Zecilwenshe suddenly possess the informant and explains he is at his limits due to his various defeats, revealing the new arrivals in Rivayle. Iceshillendrig orders Zecilwenshe to stay behind and recover while he personally investigates the matter. Meanwhile, Vincent continues waiting for the conflict to blow over. When one of the deputies argues against just standing by, Vincent uses his Word Magic, which controls people and objects weaker than him through vocal commands, to quiet him. Vincent decides to let Maiser handle the immediate crisis while he waits for the real battle to begin. Nahtnaught is informed of Bunny and Baron's successful attack on the Golden Hills and the arrival of the group from Vellsar. However, Nahtnaught recognizes the conflict has just begun and will intensify when the titans clash. Suddenly, strange monsters similar to wretches begin attacking and Nahtnaught declares the real battle has begun.

In the present, Kagero defends some wealthy citizens from the wretch-like monsters, only for them to be transformed into the same kind of creatures. Kagero defeats them and senses more monsters have popped up. The monsters rise back up, but Sekka arrives and saves Kagero. Kagero determines the seal is responsible for the transformations and shows Sekka the bullet he acquired. The monsters rise again, but Kagero tells Sekka to take the bullet to Aluzard while he fights them off. Meanwhile, Aluzard and Arisa are attacked by the monsters, but Aluzard realizes that the trouble is only starting and sends Arisa to fulfil her role while he fights. While fighting, Aluzard wonders what the real trial is and vows to conquer it.

Sekka shows Drache the bullet Kagero entrusted to her to give to Aluzard. Before Drache can fly Sekka to Aluzard, Nahtnaught arrives and begins attacking everyone around her. Seeing the two as an unexpected intrusion of her plans, Nahtnaught prepares to kill them. Sekka has Drache take the bullet to Aluzard while she stays behind to buy time and also tells Drache about Bunny's connection to Fleauesse.

11. All That Remains Are Words[]

Aluzard prepares to search for the others from Vellsar, but is stopped by Vincent, who uses his Word Magic to turn Iceshillendrig's henchmen on each other. Though Aluzard is able to resist Vincent's power over him and Vincent reveals he has decided the fighting has gone long enough and is finally intervening. Seeing Aluzard as a potential threat due to his power, Vincent attacks. Using his magic, Vincent freezes Aluzard and plans to hold him until the rebellions is over, but Aluzard breaks free and counterattacks. He manages to make Vincent bleed and drinks the spilt blood to empower himself and fights back to incapacitate Vincent. However, Vincent begins usign the people he put under his control to fight Aluzard, but Drache arrives to give him support. Vincent senses Drache has traded blows with Maiser and Drache reveals Maiser is fighting near where Nahtnaught is destroying everything, but Vincent makes it clear he doesn't care about Maiser's fate. Drache gives Aluzard the bullet, the information about Bunny, and warns him of Iceshillendrig's reclamation. Aluzard leaves to take action with the information he has been given while Drache stays behind to fight Vincent.

12. Words Are Futile[]

The people Vincent has put under his control and the police begin fighting against Nahtnaught forces. Selena and Maiser witness the rising conflict and Maiser realize Vincent is planning on finishing the fight on Iceshillendrig's side. Selena is angered by Vincent's duplicity and insists they leave Rivayle until the dust settles but Maiser insists on staying to intervene. When he and Selena argue, Selena hints towards the assassinations she committed. Maiser, realizing she was the one protecting him, thanks Selena for all she has done for him, but makes it clear he won't stand by and will try and reason with Vincent. Before the two can argue further, a wretch monster and Iceshillendrig's henchmen attack and Masier, having full regained his confidence in himself, shoots them. He tells Selena he wants to shoulder the burdens she is carrying, having gained his resolve to protect her. Maiser leaves to find Vincent and Selena is found by the church Abbess, who changes her orders to protect the church. However, Selena declares she is done following orders and that she will do things her way.

While searching for Vincent, a deputy tries to warn him that Vincent is past the point of being dissuaded, but Maiser isn't deterred and continues his mission. Drache continues fighting Vincent, despite being overpowered, and Vincent recognizes that they are both running out of magic. The battle is interrupted by Maiser, but Vincent, aware of his reasons for coming, tells him he will not back down. Vincent offers to let Maiser walk away if he gives up, but Maiser refuses and fights alongside Drache. Nahtnaught overpowers Sekka, but Illganeau intervenes and Kagero soon joins them as well. Meanwhile, Bunny and Baron are on the move and Aluzard is pursing them.

14. Battle for Rivayle's Fate[]

Bunny and Baron prepare to fight Iceshillendrig with a set of bullets not created by him, which are immune to his Reclaimation. Before they can take action, Aluzard finds them and warns them that if they kill Iceshillendrig, he will take their lives and their bodies. Understanding the plausibility of Aluzard's warning, Baron decides to instead reduce Iceshillendrig to a helpless state and lock him away, despite knowning the same kind of damage would be inflicted upon him. Bunny is confused by Baron's resolve and Baron reveals he intends for Bunny to take her place, as no one has ever seen his face because of his jamming magic. Aluzard gives Bunny the bullet Drache handed to him, the same one Fleauesse originally gave to her, and stays behind to fight the wretch monsters while Bunny and Baron go to face Iceshillendrig.

15. Fate's Turn[]

On the way to confront Iceshillendrig, Baron, believing Bunny is nervous about the upcoming battle, tries to comfort her by telling her that they will be moving on to a better life, but Bunny explains she prefers their current lifestyle, and she doesn't want Baron to live with the dismemberment he will face if his plan to stop Iceshillendrig works. Though Bunny is conflicted, the two keep going and confront Iceshillendrig in his mansion. Baron reveals to Iceshillendrig that he has ammo immune to his Reclaimation and that he doesn't intend to kill him, but instead reduce him to a powerless state. Bunny and Baron attack Iceshillendrig to take back everything taken from them.

16. Turning Point[]

Baron wounds Iceshillendrig repeatedly, despite the latter's Reclaimation inflicting the same injuries onto the former. Iceshillendrig reveals his fear of death, but Baron counters that he has Bunny to live on for him while Iceshillendrig is alone. When Baron prepares to shoot to permanently subdue Iceshillendrig, Bunny joins him and aims her gun at Iceshillendrig. Before she can fire, Fleauesse appears and freezes everything except Bunny to speak with her privately. Bunny witnesses a vision of the cycle where she and Arias killed Iceshillendrig and Fleauesse encourages her to shoot with the bullet Aluzard gave her.

The Player is given a choice of who to shoot, Iceshillendrig, no one, or an unknown third target. If the Iceshillendrig is targeted, he will accidentally be killed by the bullet and cause a chain of events that leads to the end of the Rivayle and Vellsar. If no one is selected, the result won't be accepted, and another choice must be made. If the third target is selected, Bunny shoots Fleauesse sensing she is responsible for the cycles.

When Fleauesse is shot, everything unfreezes and Fleauesse reveals she was the god who created Rivayle and split her power into three beings, the titans. She also reveals the bullet Bunny shot at her was the Lodestone, the stone that existed before Rivayle, and the only thing in the world she did not create and that has the power to change its fate. Fleauesse absorbs Iceshillendrig's essence back into her and reveals that Rivayle is no longer hiden from reality. Suddenly, Nexus's Shades appear and Fleausse reveals that Nexus has targeted Rivayle and that her power could not stop her. To keep Nexus at bay, Fleauesse sealed it in a barrier and create a time loop to create a future where Rivayle could become strong enough to survive Nexus's arrival. By shooting Fleauesee, Bunny and Baron have passed her trail and proven they are capable of fighting against the Keeper. Fleauesse disappears, leaving behind the Lodestone, which Baron retrieves, and Bunny and Baron leave to confront the new threat.

17. Point of No Return[]

Nexus senses Fleauesse's power has been broken and prepares to force her serenity upon Rivayle. The last fading traces of Fleauesse appears before Nexus and reveals she has broken the time loop. She admits that even though she had a fraction of the Keeper's power as a former vessel, she was no match for the Keepers, but reveals she has formed a backup plan in the form of the Rivayle and Vellsar groups, declaring they have unlimited potential to make miracles. Nexus dismisses Fleauesse's claims, but Fleauesse points out that even though Arisa's arrival in Rivayle initially ended with her becoming possessed by Iceshillendrig, her body proved incompatible and forced Iceshillendrig to sleep in his domain until a new vessel could arrive, allowing the group from Vellsar to rise and eventually be sent back to change the past to help Rivayle pass the trial. Fleauesse disappears after giving some taunting word to Nexus, but Nexus continues her mission, believing it is invitiable.

She tells Aluzard that the time loop has been broken as well as the connection between Vellsar and Rivayle and promises to use the last of her power to send the Vellsar group home when the battle is won. Fleauesses says her goodbye as she fades away, thanking him for creating a new future. Arisa begins searching for Nexus to save Losaria from her possession while Baron decides to confront Nexus alone, but Bunny tells him that they will fight together.

19. Hope and Reckonings[]

While searching for Nexus out in the desert, Bunny and Baron become surrounded by Shades. While fighting, Bunny and Baron argue over the latter's goal of becoming a Titan and the former's goal of going out in a blaze of glory with Baron. Baron explains he wants Bunny to live a happy life, even if it is without him, but Bunny declares she loves Baron and can't be happy without him. Baron admits he share's Bunny feelings, quoting her favorite poem about love. and explains that he believes Bunny deserves a better life than living with his crooked past. However, Bunny believes the poem is about death, reciting the full version, and Baron objects to her belief, stating she deserves to find happiness as the two are attacked by giant Shades. After defeating the Shades, Baron refuses to tell Bunny directly he loves her, believing his past as a murderer will keep her from finding happiness. After further arguing, Baron admits he loves Bunny and the two reconcile with Baron showing her his real face. The two continue their hunt for Nexus, their bond stronger than ever before.

Everyone's combined efforts bring Iceshillendrig the brink of defeat, but they are wary dealing the final blow for fear of Iceshillendrig's Reclaimation taking their lives in exchange. To get rid of Iceshillendrig forever, Illganeau offers to kill him and be brought down to prevent him from possessing another vessel. She kills Iceshillendrig and he prepares to take her body as her new vessel.
