Story[]
History[]
Viridia Magna was once a human girl desperately clinged to save those she loved and was given the power to create Aether by a wandering mage. With her new power, the girl became Viridia Magna and Naterra became lush and prosperous.
The inhabitants of Naterra thrived and developed into an advanced civilzation. However, the civilization's acceleration was pushed forward by a company called Centralis, who presented Viridia Magna as a power source called the Virgo Mechanism. Centralis, led by a researcher who was actually a keeper's vessel, manipulated events so Viridia Magna's power would be depleted by the people, who were clueless about the true nature of the Virgo Mechanism, and cause a shortage of Aether. A worker named Girad was assigned to complete a device that would supposedly extract more power from the Virgo Mechanism, only to discover that the device was meant to drain Viridia Magna of all her power.
Viridia Magna was put into a deep sleep to recover her power and without her Aether, the civilization was unable to maintain itself and was destroyed by a resource shortage that led to famine and war until all was destroyed.
When Viridia Magna awoke, she saw Naterra destroyed and created new life. However, her fears that her creations would subject her to such pain again allowed her to become influenced by the keeper Nerva. Through Nerva's influence, Viridia Magna became corrupted and trapped in her memories of being experimented on as the Virgo Mechanism. In that state, she created a blight to destroy Naterra for what happened to her, being spurred on by Nerva.
Seeds of Conflict[]
As Viridia Magna goes on a rampage and threatens the land with annihilation with the blight she created corrupting the wildlife and draining the life from the land, its inhabitants either accept their fate or seek to bring the goddess down. These philosophies split them into two faction, Månagarmr and Sköll, and a war eventually breaks out between both sides.
Seeds of Conflict: Harrowing[]
When Eris reveals that Viridia Magna doesn't wish to destroy the world but is been manipulated, Bayleon decides to try and return Viridia Magna to her real self. Arisa remembers that Viridia Magna was once a regular girl and decides to reach out to that part of her. The group sets out to reach Viridia Magna, but an army of blighted monsters stand in their way.
Erika and Arisa find the corrupted Viridia Magna surrounded by an energy barrier. Viridia Magna attacks in her maddened state, but Erika and Arisa can't counterattack because of the barrier protecting her. Mistolina arrives and reveals that ordinary weapons can't break the barrier, but her ability to create Aether can break it. She asks the two to protect her while she gathers the aether needed to break the barrier. Erika and Arisa fight the corrupted Viridia Magan to protect Mistolina.
During the fight, Erika and Arisa realize Viridia Magna's state is causing her to relive her past trauma and is confusing them for the people of the previous civilization who inflicted it upon her. Mistolina finishes gathering aether and uses it to destroy the barrier, though the strain exhausts her. Viridia Magna unleashes the fourth roar, but Erika doesn't give up and attacks Viridia Magna, while admitting her mistakes and confusion about what to do with her life. Arisa understands Erika's confusion and encourages her to move forward with her. The two realize that Viridia Magna is feeling the same confusion they are, and that a keeper is using that confusion to manipulate her. They decide to destroy the power of the keeper that is the source of Viridia Magna's madness. They reach out to the real Viridia Magna during their attack and they manage to get through to her. Viridia Magna returns to sanity and immediately ends the blight. She apologizes for letting herself become corrupted and driven to cleanse the world, but Arisa and Erika's bond brought out her true self, and she returns to her true state. Arisa and Erika encourage Viridia Magna that her creations will learn to understand their bond with her and if her past haunts her again, it can be a chance to move forward and grow. Viridia Magna gives Arisa and Erika blessing of her power and returns to sleep in order to heal the land she ravaged.
Invasion of the Worldreaver[]
When an invader from another world, Belphomet Ardelyte, is sent to Naterra by Nerva, he immediately decides to steal the power of Viridia Magna to become a god. As Belphometh succeds in absorbing the Aether from the land, Erika and Arisa realize they can save Viridia Magna if they can free her power from Belphomet and the group rallies to fight him.
After Belphomet's defeat, Bayleon reveals that Viridia Magna survived, and is currently dormant while the land heals, but it is impossible to know when she will awaken and the problems Naterra faces are far from over. Yuwan places his faith in Bayleon and the latter agrees with him that Naterra will be restored with their new allies from Aiolon.
Whispers of Purgation: Last Words[]
While Naterra recovered, a still-sleeping Viridia Magna is threatened by another servant of Nerva, Taketsumi, who like Belphomet, seeks to steal her power. Although he was unable to steal all of the Aether given the goddess's condition, Taketsumi gains enough power to become a greater threat.
