Ward is an evergreen keyword that protects the leader and other allies by forcing the opposing player to attack followers with this ability. It is represented by an animated shield that hovers the card.
As one of the few defensive keywords in the game, every class has some access to Ward. However, it is predominantly present among followers from Havencraft, with the class having archetypes revolving completely around it.

- Followers are not obligated to attack into Ward, but cannot attack any opposing followers or leader while there are Ward followers on the way.
- Ward only restricts followers' attacks. Spells and card effects will always ignore Ward.
- If there is a single follower with both Ward and Ambush (or any ability that prevents it from being attacked) on the battlefield, the effects of Ward will be negated.
- As with every keyword, destroying a Ward follower or removing it from the battlefield by other means will immediately cancel the effect.
Shadowverse EVOLVE[]
In the Shadowverse: EVOLVE physical card game, Ward is only active when the follower with Ward is engaged (horizontal). You may engage (horizontally turn) your followers with Ward when they're put onto the field or during your end phase.
